This is going to be the first of the elite skill batch to be released. ETA is sometime after rune-fest and within the next 24 months. Specific date has not been established.

It is going to be a skill in which you can dismantle certain items you may own down to a certain perk which can be added to other items you own to enhance their function.

There will be a guild location specific to the player in which they will be able to customize the hotspots (similar to construction) and choose the machinery you would like to add to the area. Some of the examples they gave us is a machine which would make admiral pies from scratch for you, I'm assuming you would need to provide the ingredients such as flour and stuff. Another example was a smithing machine. You can put in the ores and come back to bars. They were not entirely specific to the details but this is what I could gather.

I have been listening to the podcast that jagex makes
I was a little confused to start off with, as to what an elite skills is (This may be because I wasn't around when it was released). Its a new skill to be released that is a combination of two normal skills.


From what I can work out it sounds like invention is a combination of smithing and crafting, meaning that if you want to get 120 in Invention, you will have to already have 99 in each of the base skills (I Maybe wrong in this).


As an example for something you may be able to do, is break down a maple short bow and rebuild it so that it will have an improved function, such as faster shooting


There will also a mastery meaning that the best way to level may not be to go and by 10,000 maple bows break them down and make them into something new. It will also include how much you use that new item
