| As most of you may know the Rune and Addy dragons were released within the game. I have a forum thread up in the ''other section'' to detail further and keep track of the kills you guys report and any awesome loot you may gain. This thread is for the discussion on them. Adamant dragons can be found in Brimhaven Dungeon. They're formidable foes, so you'll need high combat levels and anti-dragon breath equipment to survive. You'll find more dragons behind magical barriers – passable at 70, 80 and 90 Slayer. Adamant dragons are available as a slayer assignment from Kuradal or Morvran.
Rune dragons are farther away – on Mount Firewake on the world of Kethsi. This new area is only accessible through the World Gate south of Eagle's Peak, once you've completed Fate of the Gods and Ritual of the Mahjarrat. The only slayer master who will assign them is Morvran.
To stand a chance against these mightiest of monsters, you'll – of course - need anti-dragon gear. It's also wise to come packing dragonbane ammo, as anything else will deal greatly reduced damage until the rune dragons' armour plating is breached.
Rune dragons also have a flight phase – all the more reason to come geared for range – and an enrage phase where their maximum damage increases with each attack.
Regular rune dragons are challenging enough, but elite rune dragons can also spawn on their death. These have all the deadly abilities of their kin, with a significant boost in power – and more lucrative loot.
For two weeks following today's release, there are increased spawn rates on both adamant and rune dragons, and an increased chance for elites to spawn when rune dragons are killed. There's also twice the chance to get an adamant or rune dragon slayer assignment. The blue section can be found at http://services.runescape.com/m=forum/forums.ws?15,16,652,65638153Exciting times though, I think it has been too long since more dragons were released into the game. I personally really enjoy dragons & wish there were more of them, = greater chance at getting them from slayer tasks. | |

| Been reading up on the forums.
there seems to be a lot of fuss about the drop rates on the rune dragons. They are comparing the Rune dragons to some bosses and stating that they are harder... I can hardly believe this however, I have not killed the rune dragons either.
I remember when frost dragons first got their little aura of repelling and all damage given would be reflected back. That annoyed the crap out of me but broke all the bots so it was nice to find worlds not contaminated with thousands of bots. My point in bringing up frost dragons is... Will the rune dragons be the new frost dragons? Are they harder than the frost dragons? I think they mostly are because Frost dragons are easy... However, if they are comparable to frosties then why are people saying their so hard....
Thoughts?

| They're significantly more difficult than frost dragons.
Their health is a little over eight times as much, 68250 compared to 8500. They have three phases, the first of which you have to use dragonbane bolts or you'll do nearly no damage, the second they fly, so no melee, and while in their third stage the longer they're left alive the more damage they do, eventually being capable of killing a player in one blow.
I'd say the elite rune dragons are more difficult than the God Wars Bosses, they've got a lot more health, hit harder, and more or less force you to use ranged. I'd even be willing to say the normal ones are harder, they definitely take longer to kill, and their drops are generally worth more.
They've been changed to have more spawns in the most recent update (22/06/2015), be non-aggressive, drop 4 charms as opposed to 3, and give more experience for defeating than before. |
